Welcome!
Welcome to FreddyCardoza.com. In 2016 I made the decision to migrate the headquarters of my digital presence to a new web portal. Podcast Seminary is an online platform featuring life-changing content on faith, discipleship, and ministry. Those themes are the primary touchstones of my life, work, and ministry. They represent who I am and what I do. To share these important values, PodcastSeminary.com is a transmission station that broadcasts truth. Podcast Seminary helps people grow in their faith and relationship with God. This website and my other digital resources equip people to get informed and be transformed. I believe people who are comprehensively and systematically informed can be transformed from the inside-out, and will become change agents who impact the world for good and for God.
My Bold Digital Vision
My vision is to become a spiritual tour de force by aggressively exploiting the possibilities of the digital revolution for the Glory of God. I will do this by building Podcast Seminary into a digital platform that advances the Kingdom of God. This will involve strategically and exponentially expanding the breadth and depth of my reach as a Christian thought leader. I am committed to consistently providing superior content that I have created, curated, or collaborated for every relevant thought space. In doing this, I will shrewdly champion the best and most powerful media to digitally supplement what God does through my actual physical presence. If successful, many people’s knowledge, thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, values, convictions, actions, behaviors, lifestyles, and destinies will be changed. The result will be to build a legacy where I have played at least some part in the lives of people who helped change the world.
My Bio
I’m Freddy Cardoza. I am a teacher, speaker, and leader. I currently serve as a Professor and Program Director of the Christian Education Department for Talbot School of Theology at Biola University, a private Christian university in Greater Los Angeles. I serve as the Executive Director for the Society of Professors in Christian Education (SPCE), an organization comprised of ministry professors from nearly 200 evangelical academic institutions. I’m the husband of Kristin Cardoza and the father of two grown sons, Dakota and Christian Cardoza. My family resides in Irvine, California.
In 1991, I completed a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Church Ministry at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, then earned a Master of Arts in Christian Education at Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, North Carolina. I began doctoral studies at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky and completed all the coursework for the Doctor of Education (Ed.D., ABD), then earned and was awarded the Ph.D. in Leadership.
I served a total of 20 years in local church pastoral ministry before ultimately remaining in full-time academic teaching, where I am today. Though I still remain active in ministry and consulting, a majority of my time is currently spent equipping pastors and ministers for church and Christian ministry. While serving in churches as a vocational minister, I served in churches that ranged from small to very large, situated in rural, suburban, urban, and inner-city environments. These included primarily anglo, multicultural, and multiethnic congregations. I currently invest a significant amount of time in my home church, Saddleback Church (Irvine South Campus) in Southern California, where I help spearhead the Discipleship program for adults, under the leadership of the pastoral team.
I began my teaching ministry in 1996. It began when I was invited to teach part-time for over three years at Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee. Later I taught for John Brown University at their campus in Fort Smith, Arkansas. That led to teaching at Boyce College in Louisville, Kentucky while completing my Ph.D., then founding and leading the Chicago Extension of Southern Seminary. Ultimately I accepted a full-time teaching and administrative position at Midwestern Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. After four years of association with Midwestern, I was invited to a full-time administrative and teaching position in greater Los Angeles with Biola University’s Talbot School of Theology, where I hold a dual appointment at the university and seminary. I have served at Biola since 2009.
In addition to these, I have lectured at Liberty University, Southwestern Seminary, Southern Seminary, Cedarville University, Cornerstone University, Phoenix Seminary, North Park University, and North Park Theological Seminary. Since 2011 I have served as a Visiting Professor for Gateway Seminary (formerly Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary), where I teach the “Teaching Adults” seminar in the Ph.D. Program, focusing on adult learning and academic teaching. I launched Podcast Seminary in 2016.
Thanks for taking time to get to know me. I’m deeply honored by your taking the time to read my bio and visit Podcast Seminary!
